South Toledo Day will rev its engines with a car show and other activities as it brings a variety of family activities to the neighborhood on May 19.

The day gets under way at 10 a.m. as the car show opens to the public at Byrne Road and Heatherdowns Boulevard. The event, hosted by the Byrne Heatherdowns Business Association, runs until 3 p.m.

Charitable proceeds will be donated to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and to the Cancer Center at the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio.

All styles and models of cars are welcome. Raffles, dash plaques, and a trophy for people's choice will be part of the activities. There is a $10 registration fee. Contact Scott McLuckie at 419-382-1491 or at allsportso@aol.com.

At the Heatherdowns Branch Library, 3265 Glanzman Rd., food and treats such as cotton candy and snow cones will be available during a patron appreciation day from noon to 3 p.m. Library staff storytellers along with the Frogtown Storytellers Guild will entertain.

More entertainment includes local musician Jeff Stewart and the group Drums of Thunder. Friends of the Library will host a book sale, and the event will end with a teen talent show.
