Monclova Twp. crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

One area man is dead and another is in serious condition after a head-on crash on Eber Road, just south of the Ohio Turnpike in Monclova Township on Friday evening, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Robert Ulrick, 26, of the Grand Rapids, Ohio, area was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gregory Brenneman, 50, of Monclova Township was mechanically extricated from his vehicle and flown to Toledo Hospital where he was in serious condition this morning.

Mr. Ulrick was driving south on Eber, near the Ohio Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing base, at about 7 p.m. when he attempted to pass another southbound vehicle, according to the patrol. His vehicle crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle head-on that was driven by Mr. Brenneman, the patrol said.

Mr. Ulrick was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.

Eber Road was closed for about 2½ hours.
