SYLVANIA

Board authorizes purchase of 2 buses

Sylvania Schools will be getting two new buses.

The board of education has authorized spending $76,110 apiece for the 72-passenger vehicles to update the district’s fleet. The buses will be Thomas B2 conventional units. Officials said they will save on the cost of repairs and maintenance.

The purchase is the first of up to seven buses the board has authorized. The vendor is Myers Equipment of Canfield, Ohio.

Forensics coach gets Diamond ranking

The National Forensic League has honored Northview High School English teacher Joe Drouillard as a Diamond Coach.

Mr. Drouillard, who coaches the school’s forensics team, is to be recognized at the national forensics tournament in Indianapolis next month. His team members have earned more than 30,000 points in speech and debate presentations and competitions.

OTTAWA HILLS

Farmers market to return to village

The Ottawa Hills Farmers Market will return for its third season next month.

It is to be held every Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. June through September at Epworth United Methodist Church, 3077 Valleyview Dr., across Central Avenue from Wildwood Preserve Metropark.

The market, organized by the Office of Village Life, will offer organic products and an opportunity to socialize. The public is invited.
