Local executive honored for work with veterans

Tom Uhler, president and chief executive officer of TTL Associates Inc., a Toledo engineering and environmental services company, was honored Thursday as the 2012 Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration's Northern Ohio District.

In addition to his role with TTL, Mr. Uhler is the northwest Ohio outreach coordinator for the Department of Defense's employer support of the Guard and Reserve. In that job, he works with employers and guardsmen and reservists to ensure that both sides are aware of their rights and obligations when men and women are called away to service.

Mr. Uhler, an Army veteran, is also a major proponent for entrepreneurship among veterans.
