The eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike reopened about midnight after being closed near the Stony Ridge exit Friday night as workers cleared the roadway of aluminum coils that fell from an overturned tractor trailer, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The tractor trailer was entering the turnpike from the I-280 interchange about 7:30 p.m. when the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve at the entrance ramp and overturned, troopers said.

The crash blocked all three lanes between mile posts 71.8 and 70.5, affecting about 1.3 miles of the turnpike. However, vehicles were being permitted to enter the turnpike from the I-280 entrance ramp.

The driver of the rig was taken to Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.
