A cornerstone to University of Toledo's 2013 football recruiting class is in place.

Quarterback Javon Harrison of Huber Heights Wayne committed to the Rockets on Friday during an unofficial visit to the campus, bringing UT's total number of commitments to four.

Harrison, a dual-threat quarterback, received offers from Boston College, Ohio University, Air Force, and Eastern Illinois. Pivotal to his decision was the university's medical center, as Harrison plans to pursue a degree in medicine.

"I didn't know they had such a big hospital and how great the programs are there," he said. "It caught my eye."

The successor to former Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller, now of Ohio State, Harrison passed for more than 2,000 yards and ran for 700 in his first year as starter. He had a hand in 40 touchdowns -- 21 passing, 19 rushing.

Scout.com ranks the 6-foot-2, 208-pound Harrison as a two-star recruit and the 68th quarterback nationally.

At UT he will reunite with incoming freshman Armani Miller, a receiver.

Harrison joins a class that boasts Findlay linebacker Austin Niswander, offensive lineman Boston Mathews of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Columbus Bishop Hartley linebacker Ja'Wuan Woodley, who lived in Toledo through the seventh grade. The group shrunk by one last week when defensive back Josh Jones de-committed upon receiving an offer from Iowa.

UT has signed the top-ranked class in the Mid-American Conference -- per at least one major recruiting service -- in each of the past three years.

Harrison extended his visit Friday to UT's Friday Night Lights camp. Among notable players in attendance was Whitmer defensive lineman Marquise Moore, whom UT has offered.
