BELLEVUE, Ohio -- The Bellevue Board of Education has reached agreement on plans to purchase a building on Moore Avenue for $500,000 to use as its bus garage, maintenance facility, and storage area.

The board plans to pay $350,000 at closing for the Scagnetti Building and then pay $50,000 a year for three years interest-free. Administrators say the plan will reduce fuel costs by an estimated $23,000 a year and earn rental income of $31,800 from the tenant, A. Schulman Co.

Superintendent Kim Schubert said the building will mean the district's buses are just five minutes from the new central elementary and middle schools on State Rt. 269, which are to open this fall. The plan also will allow the district to sell the former York Elementary property in York Township, where the current bus garage is.
