The City of Toledo has been awarded $6.5 million in financing from the state to carry out infrastructure projects, Mayor Mike Bell announced today.

The money, a mixture of grants and loans, will be used to fund 12 projects in 2013, the mayor said. Most of the projects involve reconstructing and resurfacing main thoroughfares in the city, but also include two utility construction initiatives and work on sewage tunnels as part of the Toledo Waterways Initiative.

“This will allow for us to complete even more projects inside the city of Toledo to address our infrastructure concerns,” the mayor said. “We’re very thankful for that.”

The money is already contemplated as part of the $31 million in road repair and reconstruction projects planned for next year.
