A construction project delayed six years because of the economy will resume soon, Maumee City Administrator John Jezak said.

In 2006, the city won a $150,000 state grant to repave and expand the parking lot at the Wolcott House Museum.

"No sooner when we were done making our presentation and finding a little while later we would be awarded the money, everything started to hit the fan here in Maumee," Mr. Jezak said, referring to the recession. "Council kind of looked at it, 'Do we really need to do this right now?' "

But last year, Mr. Jezak said, he verified with state Rep. Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township) the state money was still available, prompting Maumee to take a second look at the project.

The construction will occur next spring, Mr. Jezak said.
