MONROE — A man accused of sexually assaulting several people — including a 7-year-old girl — has been arrested and arraigned.

Shawn Michael Remington, 34, address unknown, is charged in Monroe with “multiple” counts of criminal sexual conduct, a first-degree felony that could result in life in prison.

The Monroe Police Department received an initial complaint — about the 7-year-old — on Aug. 2.

The girl reportedly told police that the man is a business associate of her father and that, for the past two years, he sexually assaulted the girl.

The police department was then contacted by other victims to allege they were sexually assaulted by the suspect.

Mr. Remington is scheduled for a preliminary examination on Sept. 27 in 1st District Court with Judge Mark Braunlich.

The suspect was employed as a property maintenance supervisor and was involved with a Boy Scouts organization, police said.

None of the reported victims are associated with the Boy Scouts, officials said.

Police are asking that anyone with information call Monroe police Detective J.D. Wall at 734-243-7509 or Sgt. John Plath at 734-240-7545.
