FINDLAY — A retired Coast Guard leader takes office today as the new director of the American Red Cross for Fostoria and Seneca County.

David Conley’s duties during his 22 years with the Coast Guard included communications unit leader for multiagency responses to emergent and scheduled events such as weather-related disasters, political events, law-enforcement operations, and national events such as the 2005 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and Super Bowl XL in 2006, both in Detroit.

“We are very excited to have David joining the Red Cross in Fostoria-Seneca County,” said Todd James, the agency’s executive director for Hancock, Seneca, and Wyandot counties. “His skills and experience are perfectly suited to guide our volunteers and staff in delivering Red Cross services and programs in the communities.”

“While in the Coast Guard, I served on many humanitarian missions, and when I retired, I wanted a second career that allowed me to continue to serve my community,” Mr. Conley said. “The Red Cross is the premier disaster-relief organization in the world, and I know from firsthand experience their work in supporting the military and military families.”

He lives with his family in Carey, Ohio.
