The Perrysburg Township police department received two grants this week to enforce traffic safety.

The grants were advanced by the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Safety Administration, through the state's Department of Public Safety.

The first grant, for $42,085.52, will be used for saturation patrols in tracking down impaired drivers, police said. Officers will target State Rts. 795, 25, and 65, Oregon Road, and U.S. 20.

The second grant, $35,533, was awarded to promote safe communities in Wood County. The money will be used to disseminate safe-driving messages and provide education for residents.
