Murder has been added to the charges against a Toledo man accused of punching a bouncer at a South Toledo strip club last month. The victim died Saturday of his injuries.

Jamieius Smith, 29, of 2029 Southmoor Dr. was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury Tuesday with one count of murder in the commission of a felony — in this case, felonious assault. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

He is charged with the death of John R. White, 38, of Lake Township, a security worker at Deja Vu, 135 S. Byrne Rd. Authorities said a man who had been asked to leave the club for threatening customers punched Mr. White and another security worker about 2:55 a.m. Sept. 29. Mr. White suffered a skull fracture when he fell and hit the pavement.

Smith had been charged with felonious assault. He also faces unrelated cocaine possession and trafficking charges.

He was held Tuesday night without bond in the Lucas County jail.
