An Oregon man recently acquitted in the aggravated murder trial of a Springfield Township couple was indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury for the assault of his live-in girlfriend.

Cameo Pettaway, 23, was charged with one count of felonious assault.

If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison. He is in custody after his arrest Thursday.

Mr. Pettaway was first arrested Sunday at his Oregon residence, where police were called about 8 a.m. The victim, Sarah Rupert, 26, apparently suffered significant injuries to her face.

Authorities said Mr. Pettaway had posted bond in the case Wednesday but was arrested again after an indictment was returned.

Mr. Pettaway was acquitted in July by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James Bates for lack of evidence in the 2011 slayings of Lisa Straub and Johnny Clarke.

The finding was issued after a jury heard 3½ days of testimony but before the trial got to the jury-deliberation stage.
