Open house in Bowling Green for fire prevention month

BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green Fire Division will observe October's Fire Prevention Month with an open house at the Pearl Street Station, 1060 Pearl St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will be able to view ambulances and firefighting equipment and talk with firefighters.

A session  on fire extinguisher training will be held at 11:30 a.m. and a Jaws of Live demonstration at 1 p.m. In addition, there will be a fire hose demonstration during which visitors can test their skills by shooting a real fire house at a target. Displays of fire vehicles are to include the extension of the 100-foot aerial ladder truck.

Perrysburg Township's fire prevention trailer will offer instruction in how to crawl under smoke, and there will be a demonstration of a thermal imaging camera. Fire personnel  will emphasize the importance of homes' having working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
