The 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard is conducting night training flights that began Monday and are to go through Thursday.

Area residents may see or hear F-16 fighter jets taking off and landing until 10 p.m., base officials said.

Training flights normally take place during daylight hours, but F-16 pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct night operations as part of their overall readiness, said Maj. Gary R. Bentley, executive officer of the 180th Fighter Wing.

The 180th Fighter Wing is at 2660 South Eber Rd., near Swanton.
