Toledo travelers headed to the Detroit Tigers’ World Series games this weekend or the Detroit Lions’ football game on Sunday should encounter relatively little construction on the way north, but could face delays coming home, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

MDOT said it has suspended several road projects that would otherwise require lane closings in the metropolitan Detroit area because of the World Series games today, Sunday, and possibly Monday at Comerica Park.

But pavement patching on southbound I-75 in southern Monroe County, postponed a week ago because of rain, will proceed this weekend as planned, MDOT said. Two of three lanes closed Friday evening south of Luna Pier Road to the Ohio border and are to remain blocked until 6 a.m. Monday.

State officials warned motorists to allow extra time to proceed through that work zone.
