U.S. probes Fulton Co. firms

DELTA, Ohio —The owners of a Fulton County scrap yard that federal authorities searched this week is under investigation for tax evasion, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Toledo.

Todd and Carrie Zappone and their businesses, Dad’s Auto Parts, Superior Towing and Road Service, and Ohio Scrap Iron Corp., all located at 4840 U.S. 20a, are identified as the focus of an Internal Revenue Service investigation in an affidavit filed in federal court to obtain a search warrant of the businesses and the couple’s home at 5923 County Road 12, Swanton.

Business, financial, and employee records, invoices, credit-card receipts, computers and hard-drive files, and filing cabinets were taken from the business and home during the search Thursday.
