ELMORE — Users of the Elmore and Genoa libraries who have been tardy in returning materials are being given the chance to pay their fines with cans of corn, jars of peanut butter, or whatever nonperishable food items they donate.

Food for Fines is under way at the Harris-Elmore and Genoa branch libraries.

The food items will be given to the Ottawa County Holiday Bureau and to food pantries serving Elmore and Genoa.

Suggested donation is one item for every dollar owed. Donated food items cannot be used as payment for lost materials.
