FINDLAY — Hancock County commissioners’ plans to demolish four flood-damaged buildings in downtown Findlay should proceed, a court official has ruled.
Visiting Judge Dale Crawford on Friday denied a request for a temporary restraining order to delay demolition of the county-owned buildings, saying the court cannot interfere with a decision by another branch of government so long as the governmental body has not overstepped its bounds.
A group of mostly downtown business owners tried to stop the demolition, arguing that tearing down the buildings would hurt the economy.
