Across the area, golfers were taking some last swings before the season draws to a close. Jim White of Sylvania Township was among golfers spending time today at Highland Meadows Golf Club.

With the sun shining and the temperature above freezing, the weekend before Thanksgiving was a good time to be outdoors, walking the park trails or walking from store to store.

Some people were pleased to begin their Christmas shopping on a day when they didn't have to bundle up, scrap snow from windshields, or worry about slipping on the ice.

Other local residents were bustling from one holiday to another with interior and exterior decorations. Some tossed Halloween jack-o-lanterns onto the compost pile and twisted Christmas lights around tree branches. Outside lights are blinking merrily from many a home, and indoor Christmas trees twinkle even before Thanksgiving turkeys have been been carved.

No harsh weather is in the forecast -- mostly sunny with a high near 55 is predicted for Monday; on Thanksgiving, the temperature is to reach a balmy 59 degrees -- but it's northwest Ohio with December approaching ... it's coming. For sure, winter is coming.
