GIBSONBURG, Ohio — Voters in the Gibsonburg school district will be asked to approve a 10-year, 1 percent income tax in the May primary election.

The school board voted Monday to request the issue, which would only tax earned income, not retirement income. If approved, it would raise about $975,000 a year to compensate for reduced state funding.

School officials said that without the new income, the district will incur a deficit after this school year.
