The Toledo Fair Housing Center has promoted Michael P. Marsh as its new president and CEO.

The nonprofit civil rights agency announced the appointment on Thursday. Mr. Marsh will begin his new duties on Feb. 1. He will replace Katherine Lawson Broka, who retires Jan. 31.

Mr. Marsh, who joined the center in 1997, currently serves as the agency’s vice president, development and public relations, according to a news release issued by the center.

A certified fund-raising executive, Mr. Marsh is credited with helping the center raise $1.425 million in federal funding through the Fair Housing Initiatives Program.

He earned a master’s degree in American Culture Studies and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University. He completed the certificate in nonprofit executive leadership program through Indiana University in 2011.

Mr. Marsh was recently elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Ability Center of Greater Toledo, beginning Jan. 1.
