The Lucas County Democratic Party's screening committee Monday night interviewed five applicants for the Toledo City Council at-large seat that will become vacant in January when Phillip Copeland takes the office of county recorder, said Ron Rothenbuhler, Lucas County Democratic chairman.

The applicants were former Toledo Mayor Jack Ford; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ union organizer Shaun Enright; Jason Schreiner, a 2011 city council candidate; Michael Dearth, a Block Watch leader, and Harold Mosley, a Toledo police officer and sergeant-at-arms for council.

The party’s executive committee will vote to endorse a candidate for city council’s approval Dec. 20.
