Area residents are invited to attend an open house at the Wood County Courthouse Wednesday to honor Tim Brown, a 14-year Wood County commissioner, who is leaving the post because of his election to an Ohio House seat.

Mr. Brown, 50, was elected in November to represent the 3rd Ohio House District. He was appointed a county commissioner in 1997 by the Wood County GOP to complete Bob Latta’s term after Mr. Latta was elected to the Ohio Senate.

Wood County Commissioners James Carter and Joel Kuhlman and the staff of the Wood County commissioners will honor Mr. Brown for his service as commissioner from 1997 to 2012. The reception is to be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the fifth-floor lobby of the courthouse complex. Remarks will be presented at 3 p.m.

The Wood County Republican party has been accepting applications for Mr. Brown’s seat on the board of commissioners.
