11 organizations given $261,967 in grants

The Toledo Community Foundation Inc. has awarded $261,967 in grants to 11 area nonprofit organizations.

The unrestricted grants were awarded to:

● Black Swamp Conservancy, $12,400 to support the land protection and stewardship program;

● Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo, $30,917 to support programming at the new East Toledo Club in the East Broadway Elementary School;

● Center of Hope Family Services Inc., $55,780 to expand the fatherhood mentoring program;

● Children’s Resource Center, $3,890, to support the youth drop-in center program;

● Council of Michigan Foundations, $5,000 for Great Lakes Funder Collaboration;

● Economic and Community Development Institute Inc., $33,480 to finance small business loans for low income entrepreneurs;

● Grace Community Center, $25,000 for neighborhood services;

● Library Legacy Foundation, $50,000 for its Planting a Seed to Read program;

● Partners in Education, $20,000 for the college coach program;

● Sofia Quintero Arts and Cultural Center, $15,000 for neighborhood art and cultural programming;

● Toledo Public Schools, $10,500 to expand the Student African-American Brotherhood and Young Women of Excellence program.

The community foundation was created in 1973 by residents to enrich the quality of life for area individuals and families.

It has more than 545 funds with assets of about $166.5 million.
