41 dogs adopted at special event
1/1/2013The Lucas County Dog Warden’s Office found new homes for 41 dogs at a special adoption event Saturday, the largest number of dogs adopted in one day, Lucas County Dog Warden Julie Lyle said.
For the event, the “Year-End Adoption Close-Out! All 2012 Dogs Must Go,” a total of 45 dogs were sponsored, meaning their adoption fees were paid by sponsors. Fees for dogs that were sponsored but that did not find homes on Saturday will continue to be discounted. After the pound’s adoption fees increase on Jan. 2 to $100, those dogs’ adoption fees will remain at $50, plus the cost of a license.
Adoption sponsors included Yark Subaru, 6141 W. Central Ave., which sponsored the adoption fees on 14 dogs. Others sponsors include Blade Publisher and Editor-in-Chief John Robinson Block, several Lucas County dog warden volunteers, Libbey Glass Golden-Emblem Club, Don Parks of Danberry Realtors, 3624 Navarre Ave., Oregon, Toledo’s Pet Bull Project, and the Monroe Street Diner, 4514 Monroe St.
The pound reopens at 10 a.m Wednesday.
