The Toledo Zoo saw record attendance -- 179,267 visitors -- at its 2012 Lights Before Christmas Exhibit, according to zoo officials. This is the best attendance since the attraction opened in 1986, according to a zoo statement.

Zoo officials attributed to the high attendance to unseasonably warm weather through much of November and December, as well as new attractions such as a walk-in snow globe and a 15-foot rocking horse, and marketing to visitors from surrounding states.

The event ran from Nov. 16 through Dec. 31. Lights Before Christmas features holiday lights and treats for visitors. There will be a special encore presentation of Lights today and Saturday. For more information, visit toledozoo.org/lights.
