Request filed to drop charges against Tiffin doctor

TIFFIN — Because a key witness is ill, a prosecution motion has been filed to drop charges against a Tiffin physician accused of dispensing methadone and other prescription drugs without a proper license.

Seneca County Prosecutor Derek DeVine said Thursday a physician retained by the Ohio Pharmacy Board to review the prescribing practices of Dr. Samuel Christian, 56, was recently diagnosed with liver cancer and would be unable to testify. He said the pharmacy board intends to retain another physician to review the records and serve as an expert witness in the matter.

A county grand jury handed up a 30-count indictment in July that named Dr. Christian.
