In preparation for participation in a state conference next month, the Northview Theatre will host a special encore presentation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical, The Sound of Music, for one night only.

At 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Northview High School Performing Arts Center, 5403 Silica Dr., in Sylvania, the students will essentially be in dress rehearsal mode as a precursor for the Ohio Educational Theatre Association's state conference to be held March 1-3 in Sylvania.

Northview’s production of the musical was chosen as one of the couple of plays being staged during the conference.

"This is an encore performance that is one of a kind because they've been invited to present at the state conference and asked to present in front of all their peers from across the state. And this being on home turf makes it even more exciting," said Nancy Crandell, the Sylvania Schools communications director.

The conference will be hosted at Northview High School where 1,000 theater students from across the state will be in the audience for the school's rendition of the legendary play.

Northview is one of 11 schools selected to attend the Ohio EdTA conference which is held yearly. Last year Northview students were selected to perform The Wizard of Oz at the statewide conference. The association supports student development in the artistic theater and advocates dramatic based programs in Ohio schools.

Tickets for the Sunday performance are available at northviewtheatre.org.
