The final phase of restoring longer hours at Lucas County libraries begins next week.
The Main Library and the Holland, West Toledo, Heatherdowns, Oregon, Sanger, Sylvania, Mott, Point Place, Reynolds Corners, and Washington branches will roll out longer hours beginning Monday.
The new hours mean the Holland and West Toledo branches will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Hours for the Heatherdowns, Oregon, Sanger, Sylvania, and Main libraries will be 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunday hours at the Sylvania, Oregon, Heatherdowns and Main libraries were reinstated in early January. Before then, only the Sanger branch was open on Sundays.
Hours for the Mott branch will be 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Point Place, Reynolds Corners, and Washington will be open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The expanded hours follow voter approval in November of a 2.9-mill levy to support the library system. The library had cut its hours of operation, citing decreasing state funding and a drop in property-tax valuations.
