MONROE — Widening on Telegraph Road on the north side of Monroe will resume today with traffic shifted to the west side of the roadway for water line construction, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The $8 million project to widen Telegraph, part of U.S. 24, to five lanes between Stewart and LaSalle roads is expected to last into October.

A culvert replacement at Little Sandy Creek is expected to close Telegraph for about three weeks, starting in June, but otherwise two-way traffic will be maintained.

Left turns will be prohibited at LaSalle, Hurd Road, and South Mall Drive, with a detour for the latter directing motorists to North Mall Drive. Dan's Excavating of Shelby Township, Michigan, is the contractor.
