BLADE STAFF

Lucas County will sound their outdoor warning siren system at 9:50 a.m., Wednesday as part of a national effort to promote severe weather awareness this week.

At the same time, the State of Ohio will participate in a statewide tornado drill, by testing its Emergency Alert System. The county and state drills will last for one minute.

All schools, businesses and households are encouraged to practice their tornado drills and emergency plans at this time.

Both weather campaigns are designed to encourage all citizens to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards, especially severe weather.

The Lucas County Emergency Management recommends all residents purchase a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio and check to see if their cell phones are equipped to receive wireless emergency alerts.
