FREMONT -- A school bus carrying nine children was struck today by a pickup truck on State Route 412 at the intersection of County Road 198, one mile north of Fremont.

Nobody was hurt in the accident, but the nine students aboard the Fremont school bus were transported to Fremont Memorial Hospital for observation, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.

The incident is still under investigation, officials said.

According to reports, Daniel R. Ohms, 33, of Fremont, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup that was pulling a utility trailer northbound on County Route 198 at about 8:45 a.m. Mr. Ohms drove through the intersection and pulled into the side of the bus. Neither Mr. Ohms, or his son, who was a passenger, were injured.  Both were wearing seatbelts, investigators said.  The vehicle sustained heavy front damage.

The Fremont bus was being driven by David L. Tucker, 39, of Fremont, who was also properly restrained and not injured.
