Library holding essay contest for K-12 youth

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is accepting entries for the 2013 Ruth Blank Venner and Mary Jane Blank McCormick Essay Contest.

Entrants are to write an essay about how and what reading might look like in the future. Students in grades K-12 may enter. Essays have a 500-word limit.

Categories will be divided according to grade level. Prizes are $200 for first place, $100 for second, and $50 for third. Six $25 honorable mention awards will be given, for each grade category. Essay forms are available at all library branches and at toledolibrary.org. Essays are due by March 30.
