Toledo City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved two projects totaling $3.37 million toward repairs and updates on the city's water system.

The electrical power distribution system at the city's Collins Park Water Treatment Plant will be upgraded at a cost of $1.87 million.

The plant uses the original equipment dating to 1940. The project is among several mandated by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

The city also will spend $1.5 million for design and construction of a 24-inch water main replacement on Glendale Avenue between Oak Hill Court and the Anthony Wayne Trail.
