Heavy rain forecast prompts flood watches in several counties

Forecasts for heavy rain have prompted the National Weather Service to post flood watches for parts of the region.

The weather service office in White Lake, Mich., says flooding is possible in Lenawee and Monroe counties as well as much of the rest of southern Michigan because of rainfall that could range between 2 and 4 inches in that part of the area.

The North Webster, Ind., office, meanwhile, has posted flood watches for the Tiffin and St. Joseph rivers affecting parts of Fulton, Williams, and Defiance counties, also because of the potential for heavy rain during thunderstorms.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are predicted for the Toledo area through Thursday evening, after which it is expected to become sharply cooler in the region. Showers are forecast for Friday, then rain and snow showers for Friday evening before drier weather moves in for the weekend.
