Suspect's social media page appears to boast of the bombing

A Russian Facebook-style social media site of the at-large Boston bombing suspect is written in several languages.

The VK.com page shows postings in which he appears to boast of the bombing and describes himself as an Islamist.

On the page, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, says career and money are his personal priorities and he lists Chechnya-related and mosque-related Web sites as his favorite sites, and he quotes a joke that mocks police.

At one point, he writes in Russian a saying that translates into, "Brother, you've started up something big."

The suspect at large also mentions that he attended a school in Dagestan, a Russian province near Chechnya, from 1999 to 2001 and notes that he speaks English, Russian, and Nohchiyn Mott, which is the native Chechen language. Chechnya is a Russian province where the ethnic population has fought two wars for independence from Russia.  

A number of terrorist acts in Russia have been blamed on Chechen separatists.

A joke that the suspect posted on his page appears to allude to Chechens and other minorities in south Russia being persecuted by police. In the joke he posted in Russian, he says: "At school, a brain teaser is offered to class. A Dagestan national, a Chechen national, and an Ingush national are in a moving car. The question is, who is driving it? The answer: a policeman."

Ingushetia and Dagestan are predominantly Muslim provinces that are Chechnya's neighbors in the North Caucasus region of South Russia.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has the same first name as the late Dzhokhar Dudaev, a Soviet Air Force general who in the early 1990s was the first President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, a breakaway state in the North Caucasus.

A massive manhunt is underway today in Boston and surrounding suburbs for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed early today in a shootout with police.
