Changes being made to U.S. 223-U.S. 23 projects

4/24/2013

The U.S. 223 entrance to southbound U.S. 23 in Whiteford Township reopened late Wednesday, but a new stage of interchange reconstruction there starting Friday will add new detours in the area, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced.

Construction of roundabouts at the two ramp intersections will close the southbound exit and northbound entrance at the U.S. 223 interchange and will restrict the bridge over U.S. 23 to westbound traffic only for about four weeks, MDOT said. Temporary traffic signals will govern traffic between the interchange’s northbound side and Whiteford Center Road. Traffic affected by the ramp closings and bridge restriction will be directed south on U.S. 23 to the Consear Road interchange. Whiteford Center Road will also be closed at St. Anthony, and Bacon Road will be closed at U.S. 223.
