River Raisin park sets open house for May 18

The River Raisin National Battlefield Park will hold an open house 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18.

Activities will include encampments, musket demonstrations, military drills, 1812 games, and demonstrations of period cooking, gardening, medicines, clothing, and archaeology. Archaeological digs are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and musket drills for noon and 3 p.m. Children’s games will be at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.

At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Genot Picor will tell stories and perform songs and dances of the French and Native Americans of the area 200 years ago.
