BOWLING GREEN — Because of the city’s expansion of large-item refuse collection to two pickups annually, there will be no large-item collection this month as in the past, city officials said.

The city is picking up such items twice this year instead of once, and the first pickup occurred in March.

The second large-item pickup is scheduled for Sept. 16, according to the city's reminder.

Those needing to dispose of large items before then may do their own hauling to the Wood County Landfill, hire a private hauler, or contact the city public works office at 419-354-6227 to arrange for a special pickup.

There is a $25 fee for the first special pickup item and $15 for each additional item.

Those who leave any unwanted items in the public right-of-way may be cited, billed for removal costs, or both, the city warned.
