Composting workshop to be held this week

PORT CLINTON — Residents of the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District can learn the how and why of composting at a workshop Wednesday.

Sponsored by the waste district, Catawba Island Township, Sandusky County Park District, and the Ottawa County Soil & Water Conservation District, the workshop will be presented at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Catawba Island Township building, 4822 E. Cemetery Rd.

The workshop will cover basic techniques and essentials of composting. Participants also will tour Catawba Island Township’s compost area and Cedar Meadow Nature Preserve.

Residents are asked to preregister by Tuesday by calling the Ottawa County Soil & Water Conservation District, 419-898-1595. The cost is $5.
