Smog-forming ozone will be low into Friday

Breathe easy: Smog-forming ozone levels are expected to be low in the Toledo area through at least Friday.

Toledo’s Division of Environmental Services, which publishes daily forecasts between May and September for people who suffer from asthma and other forms of respiratory distress, is projecting good air-quality conditions today and Thursday, and satisfactory conditions on Friday.

Smog is most likely to form and linger when regional wind is stagnant, temperatures are high, and ground-level ozone levels spike from a combination of emissions from automobile tailpipes, power plants, and other mobile and industrial sources.
