Rossford City Council adopted a resolution Monday calling for the city to remain in the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority.

In doing so, it accepted the recommendation of an ad hoc committee formed to study the city's transportation options. The committee found that withdrawing from TARTA to start its own private system as Perrysburg did would cost Rossford taxpayers at least $200,000 more than they currently pay through their 2.25-mill TARTA levy.

The council vote was 5-2, with members Jerry Staczek and Chuck Duricek casting no votes because they believed the matter of staying in TARTA or withdrawing should be put to the voters in November.
