A storm that dumped heavy rain on southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio left at least two motorists stranded in their cars, downed trees and wires, and peppered the region with hail Thursday evening.

Adrian fire officials were called to two sites at about 5:30 p.m. to rescue two people whose cars had become stuck in flooded streets, Adrian fire captain Randy Gron said.

Captain Gron said Adrian fire officials used an aerial truck to rescue a woman whose vehicle was stuck in two feet of water on East Beecher Street.

Firefighters also were called to a similar situation on Race Street, but the man was already away from his vehicle by the time rescuers arrived.

Captain Gron estimated the water was about 18 inches deep on Race Street.

The captain said neither person was hurt.

Perrysburg, Springfield Township, Oregon, and Holland were just a few communities reporting minor damage and temporarily closed streets from downed tree limbs and power lines.

The Weather Service estimated that storms dropped 1½ inches of rain in some areas of northwest Ohio and as much as 3 inches in parts of Lenawee and Monroe counties in Michigan.

The weather service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood counties.
