Honor Flight Northwest Ohio will reduce the number of applications it accepts from veterans because of reduced funding and a long waiting list, the organization has announced.

Honor Flight, a nonprofit that arranges charter flights for veterans to visit memorial sites in Washington, said each of the round-trip flights it books costs about $72,000, and it has about 600 people waiting to make the trip.

The group has stopped accepting applications from Korean War or Vietnam War veterans and will accept applications from World War II veterans only if they have not already seen the World War II Memorial.
