Two Toledo residents were injured by a dog at the Wildwood Preserve Metropark today in Sylvania Township when trying to protect their dog from three dogs running at large in the park.

The victims were treated and released from Mercy St. Anne Hospital after receiving stitches, said park spokesman Scott Carpenter.

The Lucas County Dog Warden sent three units to the park but were unable to locate the three dogs, said Lucas County Chief Dog Warden Julie Lyle. Two dog traps were set in the hopes of catching the dogs. The traps will be monitored by park personnel.

The east entrance to Wildwood Preserve and trails leading to that side of the park remain closed.
