Maumee man elected Ohio engineers society

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Society of Professional Engineers will continue to have a strong presence from northwest Ohio.

Fred Tito of Maumee has been elected president of the 3,000-member professional society, which was established in 1878 to promote the ethical conduct of engineers and high standards for engineering education.

He is a partner with JDI Group Inc. in Springfield Township. He is past president of the society’s Toledo chapter and the Engineers Foundation of Ohio.

Mr. Tito replaces Dave Kuhn, also of Maumee. As past president, Mr. Kuhn will continue to assist the society officers. He is a project manager for Feller Finch & Associates Inc. of Maumee.

Joe Cherry of Toledo was chosen as the state group’s president-elect. In that position, he will help guide the group’s legislative, educational, and service activities. Mr. Cherry, who is president of the Toledo chapter, will replace Mr. Tito as state president when his one-year term ends.

Mr. Cherry is a shareholder, senior associate, and senior process controls engineer at SSOE Group in Toledo.

Also, Adrienne Taylor of Rossford was named the winner of the society’s Young Engineer of the Year award.

She was honored for her efforts to support activities of the society and its Toledo chapter, her enthusiasm for the profession, and her leadership in community and professional affairs.

Ms. Taylor is a chemical process engineer for SSOE Group.
