The westbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike was closed for almost two hours Friday after a sport utility vehicle collided with a guard rail, coming to a stop across the lanes of traffic, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The driver of a Ford Escape lost control of the vehicle about 5:20 p.m., after crashing into the guardrail near milepost 56 in Springfield Township. The vehicle blocked afternoon rush-hour traffic until about 7 p.m., a patrol dispatcher said.

The driver of the SUV, who was not identified as of late Friday, suffered minor injuries from the accident and was treated at the scene by the emergency medical services, the dispatcher said.
