Today is both the hottest day of the year so far at Toledo Express Airport, and also the hottest Sept. 10 on record.

The 4 p.m. reading of 96 degrees beat the previous Sept. 10 mark of 95, set in 1983. It's also two degrees warmer than the 94-degree highs from July 18 and 19 that had been the hottest previous days of 2013 at the airport, which is Toledo's official National Weather Service reporting station.

More 90-degree weather is forecast for Wednesday, along with thunderstorms possible late in the day ahead of a cold front that is expected to bring sharply cooler, more autumnal weather for the end of the week.

It also will be sticky for a second night, with a low only in the lower 70s Wednesday morning. A heat advisory is in effect in Toledo and surrounding areas until 8 p.m. today local time because of the combination of high heat and high humidity.
